Spine growth : The spine stops growing after puberty (around age 18). Classically the hand/wrist X-Ray has been used to measure spine age and development. Recently, the cervical spine is used to measure skeletal age. After 21 the discs and vertebral bodies begin to sag and collapse. Smoking speeds to process. We all get shorter as we age. Older folks will often remark that I have lost a couple inches in height.
