Growth and menses: Growth in girls is related to the onset of menses with the growth spurt occuring before the menarche or beginning of menses. It is thought that after two years, the growth plates close and further increase in height will not occur. There are many things that affect growth including thyroid function, nutrition.or chronic illness that can change the rate of growth.
