Bursitis: An inflammation of the shoulder region such as subdeltoid bursitis or tendonitis commonly causes pain on motion in the upper arm. Arthritis of the shoulder joint or simple muscle strain are other possibilities. Try cold or heat applications,liniment,antiinflammatories like Ibuprofen and rest. See your physician if symptoms persist or worsen.
