What are the signs of menopause?

Irregular bleeding : Irregular bleeding is often the first sign. You ovulate infrequently, so you may skip periods. Hot flashes are the result of decreased estrogen levels, and come soon after if they do. Night sweats vpcan also happen, which will effect your sleep. Vaginal dryness develops over time, and is also a reflection of the decreased estrogen levels. Average age is 51, but perimenopause can last a few years.

Varied: Common signs are changes in the timing of the cycles, hot flushes, mood and emotional changes, skin changes, vaginal dryness, and hair thinning. It must be remembered that symptoms vary wildly from woman to woman with some folks not experiencing any symptoms at all. I cover all these symptoms and treatment options in my book "A Woman's Guide to Hormone Health"
