AC joint: It is basically degenerative arthritis of the AC joint. It is similar to degenerative changes elsewhere in the body. Wear and tear, abnormal mechanics, anatomic predispositions may all contribute.

Arthritis.: It means arthritis of that joint right on top of the shoulder. It is very common, and oftentimes does not give you symptoms. In that case, nothing needs to be done. However, if it is painful, and not getting better over time, there is a surgical procedure that can eliminate any pain.
