A member asked:

Can cervical spine inflammation cause fever?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cervical discitis: Inflammation of the cervical spine can cause fever if there is infection in the spine. Discitis, osteomyelitis, and epidural abscess can cause fever and inflammation. Less common are sarcoidosis and fungal infections. MRI of the cervical spine can make the diagnosis. Certain blood work will show elevated markers for infection and inflammation.
