Possible tonsillitis: If your tonsil has been inflamed and painful for some time, it may be the cause of your productive cough with blood. If it is not painful, you should seek further evaluation with your primary care physician and then an Ear, Nose & Throat physician for a possible endoscopy and detailed examination of your throat as a possible site of this bleeding followed by a pulmonary evaluation.
