Ear or TMJ: when the TMJ pops or clicks, the patient often thinks it is the ear popping. Conversely, you may have eustachian tube dysfunction. See an ENT doc or oral surgeon to sort it out.

TMJ syndrome: Temporo-mandibular syndrome is the second most frequent cause of orofacial pain after dental pain. TMJ syndrome may cause ear pain, ringing in the ears, jaw locking, jaw clicking and pain behind the ear, neck pain. Proper diagnosis is the key to successful treatment.
