It depends on cause: There are many reasons for a "fast heart beat", as well as the exact definition. Most rapid heart rates are caused by physical activity, stress/anxiety, but many may be a manifestation of underlying medical conditions (not necessarily cardiac). If the fast heart rate is from a cardiac arrhythmia (not normal), then survival is indeed a question. Excellent treatment options exist. Consult your doc!

YES, IN SOME CASES: IF THE FAST HEART BEAT IS AN ARRHYTHMIA WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW THE HEART TO PUMP BLOOD NORMALLY TO THE REST OF THE BODY, SUCH AS WHAT OCCURS WITH VENTRICULAR FIBRILLATION OR VENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA, THESE WILL RESULT IN DEATH IF NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT THEM QUICKLY. CHRONIC VERY FAST HEARTBEATS CAN ALSO CAUSE PROBLEMS FOR SOME PEOPLE BY WEARING OUT THE HEART AND CAUSING IT TO GET WEAK AND DILATED.
