Heel pain : Bone spurs, hairline fractures due to minor trauma to foot, stress fracture due overuse such as jogging, sprained foot are all possibilities. Take Ibuprofen and Tylenol (acetaminophen) for two to four days if not better check with your podiatrist. You may also need Xray of the foot.

Plantar Fasciitis: It sounds like plantar fasciitis. You can try stretching the heel after periods of rest before you begin walking. Additionally, an over the counter anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or Naproxen may help assuming you don't have any allergies or contraindications for taking such medications. You can also use ice to help reduce the inflammation. Proper arch supports in shoes would also help.
