"Borderline"????: I am not quite sure what the term "borderline" means. Some people with symptoms may have incomplete criteria for lupus and are therefore Lupus "suspects". Further observations over time will clarify if the situation does/does not evolve to classic lupus. Some people may have "overlap" syndromes in which they have incomplete criteria for several auto immune conditions. Ask: "suspect" or "overlap"?

Lupus IS confusing: After hearing your story and doing an exam the lab tests were ordered by your specialist. Sometimes the results are clear cut but frequently the results are conflicting or only marginally diagnostic. Your doctor will set up a diagnostic and treatment plan to make you feel better. Frequently this involves rechecking more labs in the future. This should be discussed at that scheduled follow up.
