A member asked:

I've had high cholesterol since age 15 (may have had it longer but first time i was checked). i have a hs-crp of 8.9. does that mean i have cad?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO!: An HS-CRP of 8.9 has NOTHING to do with your heart. An HS CRP of 1.5 could mean that you're at increased risk of heart disease, but it's a terrible test that is non-specific. A number as high as yours means it isn't coming from your heart at all. For instance, if you have any form of arthritis or infection, your CRP will skyrocket.
