Depends: Chest/Thorax is tricky as u are using it all the time. Ice helps for areas that hurt the most. Avoid heavy lifting or upper body-chest exercises for few weeks. Over counter meds like Ibuprofen help usually. Gentle stretches for the Latismus Dorsi muscles and pec's help also.

Musculoskeletal pain: The length of time these pains last depends on what is causing them and whether the cause is eliminated. For instance intercostal muscle pain can last a long time because the ribs move with each breath and inflammation in the inter-rib muscles can't get rest to heal
