Occasionally i will get a palpitation that makes me feel like my heart stops and gasp for breath. sometimes i wake up with this. i have had full cardio workup and they dont find anything. is this normal?

It does not seem normal. Cardiac arrhythmia could be the culprit and three day holter monitoring may still miss it. If you are bothered too much with this symptom you should discuss with your doctor about long term heart monitoring with a loop recorder.
