Could my 6 month cognitive impairement be due to a chronic front tooth infection that my dentist just found?

No certainty: The causes of the cognitive impairment are not clear. However, risk factors include substance abuse, sedentarism, medications and medical conditions (e.g. infection, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, stroke). There is no evidence and certainty that tooth abscess is a factor.

Doubtful: A direct relationship between tooth infection and a 6 month cognitive impairment is improbable (not impossible). Relationship would need to hinge on infection spread to brain (brain abscess) or systemic immune-mediated mechanism. Both not probable over 6 months. Get evaluation.

Agree: I agree with the wise words that have already been used to answer your question. In addition to following through with your Dental treatment, you should have a medical work-up including complimentary neurologic and psychiatric evaluations.
