If it is cold sore: If it is a cold sore: 1) Dr may prescribe Acyclovir cream or liquid or other antiviral 2) Lemon Balm salve is an over the counter preparation that is helpful 3) Simple hygiene measures like handwashing and no kissing to prevent spread.
