If i had open-heart surgery when i was a baby, do i need antibiotics before getting my ears pierced?

Depends: It depends on what the surgery was for specifically and if there is still something abnormal about your heart. Many of the conditions for which we used to recommend antibiotic prophylaxis no longer require this treatment.
