4% hydroquinone: Glycolic acids help exfoliate the skin more rapidly to eliminate dead and damaged skin cells on the surface. Darkened skin is usually from excess pigment being produced deep in the skin. Use of a bleaching agent such as 4% hydroquinone may help smooth the color of the skin.
