Complex: The label "inflammed nerves" may be a doctor's way of trying to talk to a patient about some ill-defined nerve problem - too complex to explain - and may not imply that actual inflammation is proven. Actual nerve inflammation comes from many causes of widely divergent types.

Neuritis: Nerves can get inflamed from getting compress or stretched similar to spraining your ankle. Processes can act on nerves such as diabetes or other conditions like lupus.
