"phantosmia": Take this fetid smell seriously and trust your nose. Make an appt to see an ENT for a complete endoscopic exam of your nasal cavity in clinic, and possibly imaging (CT or MRI) based on exam and judgement. High possibility that "something" is there creating the odor. Your symptom is a well known 'urban legend' that every ENT takes seriously.
