I am 45 years old. i had my period this month for two weeks straight. it's been a week now i'm spotting. could this be the start of menapause?

Not likely: Menopause is usually when one stops having periods not having them more often. As one gets closer to menopause though hormonal changes can cause period problems. There are many options to help with menstrual irregularity.
