A member asked:

I can feel my heart beating really hard in my chest. it's not beating fast, it just feels like it's pounding. what is this? i do have anxiety

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Anxiety: Anxiety can cause a release of adrenaline (epinephrine) into the blood stream. One of the functions of Epinephrine is to increase the stroke volume of the heart - that is how hard the heart pumps. The problem with anxiety is that this may have happened just once or twice but now when you "notice" it you are worried and that prolongs the whole cascade!
