Not a Pneumonia vac: You may be laboring under the impression that this stops pneumonia. It helps build antibodies to some strains of pneumococcus but there are dozens of different causes of pneumonia this has no effect on.The prevnar vaccine targets more strains kids have a variety of infections from. A few who have a scheduled removal of their spleen would get it as kids. Otherwise its more an adult vaccine.
