That is not correct. Buprenex is an injectable form of buprenorphine and it is only available in 0.3 mg vials. It is not high dose buprenorphine. Kevin M. Passer, M.D. FAPA

A 38-year-old member asked:

I have some buprenex (buprenorphine) but I do not want to inject it. Can it be used orally or anally?

Buprenorphine helps: Buprenex (buprenorphine) is useful for detoxification. Injecting it is not useful for that purpose. Standard use is sublingual (under the tongue, to be absorbed by the veins under the tongue). Consult your physician about using Buprenorphine for detoxification and/or maintenance. You might also consider attending a meeting of narcotics anonymous.
