Do you have symptoms: Typically, if Metronidazole (Flagyl) is ineffective in clearing BV, other options are available. It is unusual that the same medicine is being prescribed for the third time. Also, make sure all potential vulvovaginal irritants are omitted. Also, until this is cleared, defer sex, because sometimes this is sexually associated

Should be safe: Flagyl (metronidazole) is a category B drug, meaning that there is no evidence for risk to human fetuses. However, I am concerned that this will be your third course and you still have the infection. You may want to talk to your doc about trying oral Clindamycin as an alternative drug. The topical Clindamycin is not recommended in the second half of pregnancy. This is also category B.
