No: If the only abnormal vein currently is the great saphenous vein, removal of that vein helps. However, varicose veins primarily occur because of weaknesses in the vein wall related to heredity, the effects of gravity over time and aging. Other factors also play a role. These factors potentially effect many veins in your legs, not just one. Over time, other veins may become varicose.
