Several risk factors: Stomach cancer happens when a mutation in one of the stomach's normal cells leads to cancerous transformation. Although no one knows exactly why this mutation happens, there are several risk factors for stomach cancer including asian ethnicity, smoking, a family history of stomach cancer, and infection with the bacteria h.Pylori.

No: The evidence linking sushi to stomach cancer is not there. It is more likely that use of high salted and smoked foods combined with h. Pylori infection leads to the increased stomach cancer rates in japan.

Possibly.: Gastritis is inflammation of the lining of the stomach. Gastritis can be caused by irritation due to excessive alcohol use, chronic vomiting, stress, or the use of certain medications, such as aspirin. Gastritis may also be caused by helicobacter pylori, a bacteria that can live in the stomach. Without treatment, this infection can lead to ulcers and, in some people, stomach cancers.

Ulceration: most stomach cancers have been shown related to helicobacter pylori. It has shifted the lesion from prepyloric to cardioesphageal in nature. The organism causes ulceration which heals by bringing bone stem cells to repair damagte and then the bug toxins converts to stem cells to malignant stem cells progressing to adenocarcinoma. The lesions then bleed, ulcerate and can obstruct.

Does h. Pylori cause stomach cancer?

Yes, it can.: H. Pylori is a type of bacteria that likes to grow on the inside of the stomach. This bacteria causes irritation of the stomach wall lining. The body tries to heal, but a vicious cycle of irritation and healing gets started. Over time, the regenerating stomach lining cells become disorganized in their growth which can (not always) lead to cancer growth. H. Pylori therapy can reduce cancer risk.

Unclear.: Smokeless tobacco describes such a diversity of products. Unfortunately most manufacturers don't tell the consumer exactly what their products contain. There are a number of additives which have been attributed to a risk of stomach cancer. In addition to reducing your risk of stomach cancer, not using smokeless tobacco has a number of other long-term important health benefits.
