Complex question: An overdose of morphine can cause death in anyone, not just the terminally ill. Morphine is often used to ease the suffering and pain of the terminally ill. It is not unusual for someone who is terminally ill to finally be comfortable and at peace with their pain medicine and they pass. This does not mean the morphine was the cause of their death.
