A member asked:

What to do if i have microtia..means my one ear is there a chance that her kid might have microtia..is this hereditary ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually isolated: Isolated microtia is usually an isolated event with no clear origin. In one large study 66% appear to be isolated, 28% likely autosomal dominant and 6% likely autosomal recessive. By my calculation that means a less than 30% chance your kid might have some form of this varied anomaly if this single study represents the true risk.
