Braces: Oral hygiene is more difficult in the presence of braces. More time and adjunctive cleaning aids may be needed.

Challenging: It is very challenging to keep clean healthy white teeth while having braces. Make sure you floss, ther are special flosses for ortho patients, use of whitening toothpaste and mouth rinses recommended. Tell you have them off then you can have them whitened.

Discoloration: If you are following your Orthodontist's or Dentist's cleaning instructions, you probably have at worst extrinsic stain that will polish off when your braces are removed.

Teeth discoloration: Your teeth will look entirely how well you cared for them while wearing braces. They could look perfect or the way you described "are yellower and have white spots" , also called white scars or decalcification. Unfortunately, these white stains are usually permanent. Get a professional cleaning and wait at least a month before any whitening treatment. Use Fluoride treatment 2X per year.
