A member asked:

I had an atrial septal defect repaired 24 years ago. i have had no heart problems. will i always have an abnormal ekg because of this? i feel great!

Yes: Because of scar tissue present, you will always have an "abnormal EKG". That does NOT mean a BAD EKG. it's just not going to send your electrical signals through the exact same routes as a heart that has not had surgery. It is more important that you are "feeling great" and symptom free, but aware that your EKG is "different" than most so that if something ever happens, you know what your base is
