What should i expect at my ultrasound guided fna biopsy of my lymph node behind my jaw? why can't i eat or drink after midnight the day before?

Pretty easy: If you are going to have any sedation for a procedure we usually don't want you to eat or drink beforehand. This decreases risk associated with vomiting and being groggy. The procedure should be easy. The area will be numbed up and the ultrasound rolled over the neck. You probably won't feel the actual biopsy. Good luck

No reason to fast.: Question1: FNA biopsy involves introduction of a very small bore needle ("fine") similar to acupuncture needle, into the lymph node. Generally, local anesthesia is applied prior to needle insertion which may cause "skin pinch type pain". Overall, minimal discomfort to nearly painless. Question 2: Routine FNA biopsy of neck lymph node does not require fasting.
