Several: Tracheostomy is an opening from skin, through soft tissue into the trachea - airway to allow breathing when there is upper airway- mouth, nose trauma, or cancers for example. Laryngectomy is removal of upper airway - usually for cancer. Collars hold or help hold tracheotomy tubes in position into these surgically made passages.
