A lot: Hirschprung's is a condition in which the nerves that cause peristalsis (movement of the intestine) are missing from birth. It is treated with surgery to remove the part without nerves. Redundant colon is a condition in which the colon is longer than normal, causing it to loop back on itself. It often presents with constipation and gas. It can also be treated with surgery if medical rx fails.
