A member asked:

If someone breathes or talks and has a cut in their mouth or nose, are they breathing/spitting out blood? enough to infect someone with hiv?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No need 2 worry: HIV is best transmitted from injection drugs, where blood to blood contact occurs. Someone talking, shouting or whatever is not going to be an HIV risk. Kissing is considered safe. Only when there is active, significant bleeding would I be concerned. Even then, if the source patient is taking HIV meds, the small risk drops even further.
