Yes : Healthy intact skin and gums are vitally important to keep infections out. An infection is an invasion of microorganisms they will use any cracks in your armor to live inside you. Even small burns or lesions can give them foot holds to establish an infection. Wait untill the areas are healed before risking a potential infection.
