Diagnosis: You will know if you really need root canal therapy after the tooth is diagnosed, usually by visual inspection and a radiograph. The training and education that dentists have allows them to interpret this information and make a proper diagnosis. Unless you possess all of the above, it will be hard to diagnose yourself.

Root canal: It is best to go for a consultation with your general dentist or endodontist. Hard to diagnose without an exam and x-rays.
