A member asked:

What to do if i had a ranula (tongue cyst) surgically removed last week (pics). now 5 more are back! do i have a disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No!: No, there are a couple of possibilities. Sometimes when a ranula or cyst is removed, an adjacent salivary gland duct is traumatized and obstructed by the surgery in the adjacent area. In that case, it may not drain properly; the gland produces saliva and you will form a new cyst in the location of the previous surgery. It is unpredictable and hard to avoid, but is a possibility .
