Surgical excision: A cyst on the soft palate is usually due to a blocked minor salivary gland. The surgery is very simple and will require about 7 to 10 days to heal.It can be done with a general anesthetic so as to avoid your gag reflex.

Cyst Healing: Cysts in the soft palate are common. Most are small and burst, then heal on their own. An oral surgeon, hospital dentist removes a larger cyst, stiches the site. Healing is very rapid in the mouth due to the extra circulation there. Depending on size, pain is managed well with a short dose of pain meds. Antibiotics are used if infection is also suspect. A pathology report is usually requested.
