Not sure: Whole I'm not sure what you mean by a hiatal hernia attack, large hiatal hernias (called paraesophageal hernias) can cause chest pain and pressure similar to a heart condition. Make sure your heart is ok before attributing these symptoms to a hiatal hernia. Hope this helps!

Did you have reflux?: Hiatal hernias can be silent about half the time and have reflux symptoms the other half. Those symptoms include heartburn, pressure or pain below your breastbone, regurgitation of stomach contents into your mouth and nausea. It happens more often at night since you are reclining and gravity is working against keeping gastric contents in your stomach.
