Taking a risk: These could be anything including pills designed for pets, for instance. You can look them up on the internet by identifying numbers on the pills but this will not tell you if they are expired. They could however be street drugs and you might not get any information on those. The bottom line: You are taking a risk with such an unknown batch of pills.
