DIFFERENT treatments: Based on a skin smear test or by clinical criteria, one may have either PAUCIBACILLARY leprosy or MULTIBACILLARY leprosy. The former is treated with dapsone and rifampicin for 6 months, the latter with rifampicin, dapsone, and clofazimine for 12 months. A person with multibacillary leprosy must not be treated like a paucibaciillary leprosy pt with only two drugs for a shortened period.
