Leprosy: There are about 6,500 people w Leprosy in the US. In 2009 there were 213 new US cases. Most new cases are in: California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York & Texas. Leprosy may be transmitted by close contacts with infected armadillos or humans. 95% of people are immune to Leprosy. It is often called the least contagious of the infectious diseases.
