Bimalleolar: Ankle fractures typically take 8 weeks to heal. 99% pf them need surgery unless you are infirm, ILL or don't walk. IF it needs surgery it will take anywhere from 8-12 weeks for full recovery. You typically cannot bear weight until about 6-8 weeks even with surgery. The plates and screws hold the bones in place so they can heal in the proper position, they DONT support your weight.
