A member asked:

What to do if i have a fractured pacemaker lead, they want to move my pacemaker up to my chest. will this require open heart?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pacemaker lead: Fractured leads can happen with both intracardiac and epicardial pacing leads. It sounds like perhaps you have epicardial leads with the generator over your abdomen. Likely a transvenous lead will be placed and the generator placed over the chest wall. This does not require 'open heart'. Ask your Dr. for the details.
