is fruit n vegetables wash really necessary? my wife says there is poisonous wax on apples but why is the govt allowing this on apples?

I would wash: First of all lots of people touch these things with there dirty hands. Secondly there is still pesticide on the fruits when they harvest and the do spray a wax on it to preserve it a little longer. The wax itself is not harmful it is food grade however it does trap some of the pesticide under it which is harmful.
