Not necessarily: If one has ADHD, Ritalin (methylphenidate) may be sedating rather than stimulating, while enhancing attention. Thus, it may not interfere with falling asleep.

Depends: If the girl is taking the stimulant for excessive daytime sleepiness, either from narcolepsy or sleep apnea, then the dose of the Ritalin (methylphenidate) may not be enough to help her stay awake. If, however, she is taking it for ADHD, in some cases the child may feel calm enough to actually be able to fall asleep faster than usual.
