Fairly common: The fibroid you had removed will not come back, but you may have other small fibroids that were not removed at the time of surgery. The chance of needing another operation - either removal of fibroids (myomectomy) or hysterectomy - in the future is around 15 to 45%. Fibroids stop growing when your periods stop (menopause) around age 51 on average.
