Of course!: Venlafaxine (effexor) is an antidepressant/anti anxiety medication that is non-addictive and not habit-forming. Thus, it is absolutely possible to stop taking it. However, I have had many patients suffer "withdraw" symptoms (mild headaches, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue) for a few days to several weeks after stopping it. Therefore, it's advisable to taper off instead--the slower the better.
