Few different things: Medications like ibuprofen=Advil, alleve can do it. Foods like spicy food, vinegar, citrus products, tomato based products, alcohol, cigarettes, chocolate, eating foods that are hot temperature. Stress will do it too. U can use TUMS or Zantac for immediate relief. If keeps coming back u should avoid the foods listed & medications and take a 14-21 day course of over the counter Prilosec, Nexium (esomeprazole)
